No leads yet in grandad’s murder
POLICE had unearthed no clues up to press time in the murder of David Street, Gonzales grandfather Beresford St Bernard, aka Berry, who was stabbed a short distance from his home on Tuesday morning while returning from Hosay celebrations in St James. According to police sources, “We are no where close to solving that murder.” Beresford’s body was found by his neighbour on the steps of his house where he bled to death from several stab wounds to his body. A knife remained stuck in his right arm.
No motive has been established as the 64-year-old retired public servant was found with all of his jewelry and he was not known to be involved in any underhand activities. When contacted, his daughter Paula told Newsday that there are no leads, but she is making funeral arrangements. St Bernard is expected to be buried in St James on Monday. Cpl Charles is investigating.
