Man shot in St Augustine
A ST AUGUSTINE man who was running from an angry, cutlass welding, stone throwing mob was shot by a businessman.
At around 2 pm on Thursday, Dwight Banfield, 22, of St John Road, St Augustine, got into an argument with a group of men. The men, armed with cutlasses and other weapons, began to chase Banfield. Banfield ran into a business place but the owner became frightened and believed it was a robbery. He fired a single shot from his licenced firearm which hit Banfield in his left thigh.
The group of men who had been chasing Banfield immediately fled the scene, while passersby took the injured man to the Mt Hope Medical Complex. He was transferred to the Port-of- Spain General Hospital. Visiting the scene were Sgt Daniel, Cpl Hobbs, PCs Ramjattan, De Silva and Grooms. De Silva is investigating.
