31 held in Central raids

A 25-year-old murder suspect and a 34-year-old man wanted for rape were among 31 persons arrested in an early morning exercise carried out by officers of the Central Division. Around 1 am Friday, a party of officers led by Inspector Burt Raphael and Ag Sgt Ajith Persad and including Sgts Lumy, Sylvester, Ag Sgt Ramlogan and others, executed several search warrants and arrested a 25-year-old man wanted for a recent murder. They then went to a Longdenville house where they arrested a 34-year-old man for the rape of an 18-year-old Freeport woman. Officers also raided another Longdenville home where they seized a quantity of ammunition. Several drug dens were also raided in the exercise.
