Stepdad in court on attempted murder charge
THE stepfather of a 13-year-old Barataria Junior Secondary School girl will appear before an Arima magistrate today on an attempted murder charge. The girl survived after being stabbed and thrown off a cliff on Wednesday morning. Ag Cpl Gosein laid the charge. The matter will be one of the several to be called for the first time at the recently elocated Arima Magistrates’ Court. All matters called yesterday were adjourned to next week because the court staff was involved with the relocation for today’s opening. Also appearing in the court for the first time will be three men from Sunshine Avenue, San Juan. The men, ages 21, 22, and 23, are charged with the Carnival Sunday murder of taxi driver John Hollio. Hollio, 53, a father of four of San Pedro Road in Wallerfield, was found dead with several stab wounds and a slit throat at the bottom of a precipice on the Blanchisseuse Road by a colleague. Cpl Jones laid the charge.
