$.3M bail for pregnant woman
A NINE-MONTHS pregnant woman was yesterday granted $300,000 bail when she appeared before a San Fernando magistrate charged with fraudulently obtaining $190,000 from her workplace — Toyota Motors. Teelah Dookie, 25, of Beach Road, Palo Seco, pleaded not guilty to the indictable charge laid by acting Cpl Kent Ghisyawan when she appeared before acting deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington in the First Court where Cpl Wendell Fernando was prosecutor.
The charge alleges that on January 22, Dookie, under false pretense, took the sum of money paid to the company for the purchase of a 4x4 Hilux. Dookie was employed at Toyota’s South branch at Lady Hailes Avenue, San Fernando, in the accounts department since February 1, 2003. Investigations were led by Insp John and included Cpl Kent Ghisyawan, PCs David, Forbes, Seepersad and WPC Lancaster Ellis. She was granted continuing bail by a Justice of the Peace, before whom she appeared last Friday. Dookie is being represented by attorney Subhas Panday. The matter was adjourned to July 7.
