Thousands at flower Show
Florists, gardeners and plant enthusiasts alike still have one day left to witness the biggest and largest presentation of lush floral and foliage display from around the country, at the Queen’s Park Savannah today. To celebrate its 90th anniversary, the Horticultural Society of TT (HSTT) yesterday opened its grand flower and plant show titled “Still Blooming at 90,” at the Grand Stand of the Queen’s Park Savannah. The massive presentation, which succeeded in transforming the Grand Stand of the Savannah into a tropical paradise for plant and flower lovers, boasted a wide variety of plants, flowers and shrubs from numerous farms and floral shops around the country.
The show was formally opened at 10 am by Port-of-Spain Mayor Murchison Brown, following a ribbon cutting ceremony at the entrance to the Grand Stand. Following the short ceremony, the eager crowd who were kept waiting were allowed to enter the Savannah by officials of the HSTT, who then assumed the role of answering questions, and providing information to the public. Visitors to the show can also obtain products on skin and hair care, books on gardening, flower pots of all shapes, colours and sizes, home made wines, sweet snacks, and herbal products including tea and medicine.
