Senior RHA doctors begin $$ talks

Negotiations for senior Regional Health Authority doctors began yesterday at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope. The Joint Negotiating Team of Regional Health Authorities (JNT) returned to the table with a “revised position” for Consultants and Registrars said Dr Lakhan Roop, acting president of the Medical Professionals Association of TT. He said the issue of overtime payments was raised  at the meeting but the JNT had to “go back to their principal about it.” Roop said the proposal submitted by the JNT will be discussed with doctors. Another meeting has been scheduled for April 5. Asked if the first meeting indicated that negotiations will proceed in an expeditious manner, he replied: “Once they don’t cancel or delay.”
