PAM AND PAT SAY ‘THANKS’
Ten days after being warded with stab wounds they sustained during an attack at their home, former Tobago West MP and NAR Government Minister Pamela “Sister Pam” Nicholson and her sister Pat, a former secondary school teacher, were discharged from the Scarborough Hospital yesterday afternoon. The wheelchair-bound sisters emerged from the Surgical Ward around 4.13 pm and immediately expressed sincere gratitude to everyone concerned for the outpouring of love, and most of all to God for his mercies in seeing them through the ordeal. Sister Pam explained that she was still a little “woosy” and experiencing headaches, and Pat did most of the talking. “We just want to say that without your assistance and the strength of the Lord we would not have been here today; we can’t say too much now, we are still a little woosy. Thanks for everything,” Sister Pam told reporters.
In turn, Pat said: “Good afternoon to everybody, I am very grateful that the Lord has been so merciful to us; his mercy is rich and flowing. We thank everybody, the doctors, the nurses, the whole hospital staff; they couldn’t do more, they gave the extra. We are very grateful; all the outpourings from Tobago, the nation, the international world. Thank you everybody; God, we are ever grateful. Thank you,” she concluded. It was an emotional moment, but they both kept their emotions well in check. The Nicholsons remained under police guard as they left the institution, and security will remain in place indefinitely, sources told Newsday. The sisters were stabbed by an intruder at their Mt Pleasant home on the night of March 16 during an apparent robbery attempt. They underwent emergency surgery and had been hospitalised since that time. Police investigations are continuing.
