Crowne Plaza apologises to Shouter Baptist community
THE management of the Crowne Plaza Hotel yesterday dismissed any suggestion that it had discriminated against the Baptist community, last Friday. A spokesman for the hotel, in apologising to all Baptists in Trinidad and Tobago, explained that there were certain developments that arose out of a misunderstanding, through no fault of the hotel. “We wish to make it abundantly clear that the misunderstanding resulted merely because of the circumstances, and was in no way connected with the identity of the Spiritual Shouter Baptist Community,” the statement read.
The hotel added: “We acknowledge the spiritual Shouter Baptist Community as an integral and important part of our society.” It went on to explain: “Crowne Plaza was booked by SWMCOL as the venue for a function carded for Friday March 26. All preparations were in place for the function to go ahead as planned. “However, another group appeared for this function without our knowledge. “Up to that time, no one from SWMCOL, had intimated to us that the venue had been booked not for SWMCOL, but for another organisation who happened to be the Shouter Baptist Community. “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and misunderstanding that occurred, and wish the Spiritual Shouter Baptist Community all the best in their upcoming holiday.”
