Girl, 3, dies in Tobago fire
A THREE-year-old girl died Saturday night after sustaining severe burns in a fire which gutted her home in Tobago. Renisha Alfred was flown to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital for treatment but eventually died. Her two brothers were saved from the fire. According to reports, a relative of the children, who was preparing breakfast in the lower part of the house, noticed smoke coming from the upper floor.
She rushed upstairs and managed to rescue Renisha’s siblings, four-year-old Nicholas and one-year-old Dominic, but was unable to get to Renisha who was trapped in another part of the room. Neighbours helped to extinguish the fire and eventually reached Renisha who was taken to the Scarborough General Hospital. From there she was flown to Trinidad by a National Security helicopter.
