Ten arrested in 13 hours

POLICE ARRESTED ten persons for various offences during an exercise carried out between 11am Friday and 2 am Saturday in the Morvant, Barataria and San Juan areas. The suspects were held for marijuana possession, firearms possession and robberies in an exercise spearheaded by Acting Inspector Coa, and included Sgts Louison, Abraham, members of the Northeastern Division Task Force and the CID. Three of the suspects were held for the robbery of political activist Felix “Baldy” Hernandez, his son and two friends at his Barataria home three weeks ago.

A 20-year-old employee of an import company was arrested for the larceny of $60,000 worth of flour from the Fernandes Compound, Eastern Main Road, Laventille, last Saturday, while a 25-year-old man, of Lower Santa Cruz, was arrested for possession of a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver and 18 rounds of ammunition. The arrested persons were placed on ID parades yesterday and are due to appear before Port-of-Spain magistrates today.
