Caribbean Single Market Economy Conference starts today
The Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies of the University of the West Indies will host its Fifth Annual Conference at the Learning Resource Centre of the UWI St Augustine Campus from 9 am today. The theme of the three day Conference is “The Caribbean Single Market and Economy: Legal, Political, Economic and Social Dimensions.” Professor William Baumol is listed to speak on the topic “Globalisation: Prospects, Promise and Problems” from 6 pm today. Keynote addresses are to be delivered by Professor Clive Thomas on “The Social Welfare Regime in CARICOM,” Professor Norman Girvan on the topic “Reflections on the CARICOM Single Market Economy” and by Professor Vaughn Lewis on “CARICOM Governance: Objectives, Functions and Structure for the Future.” All sessions will begin promptly at 9am.
