Teen’s throat slit by jealous lover

A 19-year-old Arima teen is now fighting for her life  at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital in a critical condition after her throat was slit by a jealous lover over a suspected outside relationship. According to reports, around 8.30 am yesterday  Crystal Hollingsworth was at her Mt Pleasant Road, Arima home when she got into an argument with her boyfriend over an alleged sexual relationship with another boy of the area. The man ran to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and slit Hollingsworth’s throat.

The bleeding teen jumped through a window and ran to a neighbour’s house where she was rushed to the Arima District Hospital and later to the PoSGH where she is warded. A 21-year-old man of the area was held and is currently assiting police in their investigations. Investgations revealed that the relationship had been going on for the last three years unknown to her parents. It turned sour six months ago when another boy started visiting and talking to her. This led to several arguments which ended in the attack. Investigations also revealed that the jealous lover was sleeping at the girl’s home unknown to her father.
