Govt promises road work soon

After Easter Government promises to begin the construction of some of the roads under a programme aimed at establishing  alternative routes to link key population centres, Works Minister Frankie Khan announced yesterday. The first project it would start with is the upgrading and rehabilitation of the Tasker connection which bypasses Princes Town, he said. He was speaking at a post-Cabinet news conference at Whitehall. This road would bypass Princes Town from Craignish Village into Usine Ste Madeleine. He said tenders documents were also being finalised for the “Hololo Connection” which would link the Saddle Road to Cascade and to Lady Chancellor, creating a bypass into Santa Cruz and the Maraval Valley without having to come through the heavy traffic of the Saddle Road. The next project involves the linking of the Tucker Valley on to Covigne. Within the next two months, Government expects to go out for design consultants for this project.
