Elderly man held with drugs
AN ELDERLY man was held with 15 pounds of marijuana in a makeshift camp at the back of his Mayaro home, on Good Friday. He is among four persons who will appear in the Mayaro Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday on narcotic charges. According to reports, around 2.15 pm, a party of officers were on mobile patrol duty at Sea Spray Road, Mayaro, when they spotted the makeshift camp.
The officers became suspicious and upon further investigations found the man sitting in the camp, with two pigtail buckets of compressed marijuana next to him. The elderly man was arrested and taken to the Mayaro Police Station where he was charged with marijuana trafficking.
Two 18-year-old men and a 24-year-old man were also held in the area after they were caught sharing a marijuana cigarette. The suspects were charged with possession of marijuana.
