Cyclist held with cocaine
A cyclist riding his bicycle in a southern direction made a sudden turnaround in a northern direction, aroused the suspicion of police officers who gave chase, arrested and charged him with possession of cocaine. Police reports revealed that around 9.20 pm on Good Friday, PCs Glen Benn, Colimore Thomas and WPC Amika Sookdeo of the La Horquetta Police Station were on mobile patrol in the Curepe area when they observed a man riding a bicycle in the vicinity of KFC.
He looked in the direction of the police vehicle and suddenly turned around and proceeded north, which aroused the suspicion of the officers. He was pursued into Rangoole Street, where he was stopped and searched. The police discovered a quantity of cocaine in his pocket. He was taken to the St Joseph Police Station, where he was charged with the possession of cocaine by PC Thomas.
The 39 year-old-man of Caroni is expected to appear before a Tunapuna magistrate today.
