Two critical following Mosquito Creek accident
TWO people were reportedly warded in critical condition at San Fernando General Hospital following a head-on collision along the busy Mosquito Creek in San Fernando yesterday morning. According to police, Hollis Joseph, 34, of Salazar Trace, Point Fortin, was driving a white Mitsubishi long-base truck north along the Creek at around 8.25 am, when he reportedly attempted to overtake a long line of vehicles near the bypass. However, he slammed into an oncoming truck, which was proceeding south.
Joseph’s truck crashed head-on into a blue Nissan ten-wheeler dump-truck, which overturned in a nearby ditch upon impact. The dump-truck was driven by 44-year-old Daffie Solomon of Caparo, Palmiste. Medical personnel from the EHS arrived on the scene minutes later and took both men to the SFGH where they were treated and warded. PC Sooknanan of Oropouche Police Station is spearheading investigations. Both vehicles were towed to the Oropouche Police Station.
