Sleepy Manning greets elderly
Admitting that he was extremely tired and wanted very much to go home and rest, Prime Minister Patrick Manning yesterday mustered the energy to address a gathering of senior citizens who attended a function held in their honour by the People’s National Movement. According to Manning, “ I was at a meeting all day at the Ministry of Finance, and I am very sleepy at the moment. I would have gone home, but it would be remiss of me if I had headed home and not stopped by to greet all of you. So I am here.”
The senior citizens, who were all decked in their best clothes, were well treated to entertainment, and fun games at the luncheon organised by the Welfare Committee of the PNM. The elderly persons rushed to hug and kiss the Prime Minister, who did not leave before thanking them for their support throughout the years. “You all are pioneers, and have done your jobs well. Now the time has come for you to sit back and enjoy the benefits of your hard work. You all have by no means been forgotten by the PNM,” said Prime Minister Manning.
