Search begins for Miss T&T

Peter Elias stated yesterday that his organisation was in search of seven young women to represent Trinidad and Tobago in various upcoming international and regional beauty pageants. Speaking with Elias on the subject, he said that for the first time in the history of queen shows in the country, all seven final contestants would be winners at the end of competition night, which tentatively, is carded to come off at the end of July.

His organisation, Peter Elias and Associates, already has the franchise for the Miss World, Miss Caribe Hibiscus, Miss Caravel, Queen of the Caribbean and Queen of the World competitions, and they are at present tossing around a couple of others before deciding on the final two. Earlier this year the CCN Group announced this would have been the last year they were promoting the local leg of the Miss Universe show, since they were not going to renew the licence when it comes up for renewal on June 1.

Newsday asked Elias if that competition would be one of the remaining two which were now being considered, all he was prepared to say was that he had been approached, but was yet to make a final decision. Prospective candidates must have never been married or pregnant, be a minimum of 5ft. 7 inches, aged 17 to 26 years and be willing to undergo intense training and assessment along with being available for foreign travel. Applications must include a photograph and contact information and be delivered by May 15, 2004, which Elias stressed.
