SWRHA: Medical options open for Lochan
HEALTH MINISTER John Rahael has advised the South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) to keep him informed about what type of medical treatment will be required to cure Princes Town teenager, Noel Lochan, of the mysterious skin disorder which has afflicted him. This was the word yesterday from SWRHA chairman, Imitiaz Ahamad. Ahamad told Newsday that since the Minister was made aware of Lochan’s plight in the media last week, he gave instructions that the teenager be sent to the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH) for specialised tests and medical treatment. He said Rahael has asked to be kept informed of Lochan’s condition and inform him whether “special treatment” will be required.
Ahamad did not elaborate as to whether “special treatment” meant foreign medical expertise would be sought. He was optimistic that by today, doctors treating Lochan would be in a position to determine the next phase in his treatment. On Friday, acting SFGH medical chief of staff, Dr Colin Furlonge, indicated that Lochan was undergoing “proper medical management.”
