Ticket refunds begin tomorrow

PATRONS at last weekend’s second and third Cable and Wireless One-Day Internationals between the West Indies and England at the Queen’s Park Oval can get a refund of their ticket(s) from tomorrow at the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) ticket office, located at the Oval. But they must have their ticket stubs in order to collect the 50 percent refund for Saturday’s match, which ended as a no-result after only 16 overs in the WI innings, and a full 100 percent refund for yesterday’s match, which was abandoned without a ball being bowled. According to the WICB’s chief marketing executive Darren Millien, spectators at either match or both encounters will have a maximum of ten working days to be reimbursed, “but they must have their ticket and a valid form of ID.”

But Millien noted that there are two provisions for, as he termed it, “the end-beneficiary of the refund.” “For persons who would have returned home before Tuesday or those who would have been leaving Trinidad by then, they must first come to the ticket office, fill out a form and attach the ticket to the form. We (the WICB) will start processing them and, when we are clear on all the guidelines, we will send the money to them by way of a money order,” he stated. Millien said that for companies and other corporate bodies that bought tickets “in bulk,” the refunds will go directly to the bodies instead of the individual ticket holders.

And he added that only the buyers of tickets will be allowed to collect any sort of refund. The WICB ticket policy for the 2004 Cable and Wireless series against England and Bangladesh states that “in the event a day’s play is limited as a result of rain or other act beyond the control of the WICB, the WICB will refund the face value of tickets purchased for matches as follows — less than ten overs bowled in any one day — 100 percent refund; in excess of ten overs but less than 25 overs bowled in any one day — 50 percent refund; in excess of 25 overs bowled in any one day — no refund.” The policy also stresses that “refunds will be made only in the currency of the host country and only for tickets purchased from the WICB ticket offices.”
