Suicide cop to be buried today

Corporal Raffick Mohammed, who shot his common-law wife Kamla Paltoo in front of the St Joseph Police Station last Friday night before fatally shooting himself in the head, will be buried today. After a 1 pm service under Muslim rites at Mohammed’s sister’s house on the Guaico/Tamana Road in Sangre Grande, the body will be buried at the Turure Public Cemetery, Eastern Main Road, Sangre Grande.

Mohammed, 43, shot his wife of 18 years, Kamla, 38, in her hand and back, after she threatened to get a restraining order against him, after he had taken one out against her to keep her away from the family’s Azalea Drive, Duranta Gardens home in Sangre Grande. The couple had been feuding for years over allegations of her infidelity and his jealousy. They appeared in court on April 21 before a Sangre Grande magistrate, when his application was heard.
