Cocorite killer still on the run
While the relatives of murdered Cocorite youth, Devon Cox, are still in the planning stages for his funeral, the relatives of his “killer friend” who was still on the run up to yesterday, are still working on having him give himself up to the police. Brother of the alleged killer, Aquilla Le Metre, said that though he did not speak personally to his brother yesterday, he confirmed that other relatives had spoken to him. According to the shooter’s brother, “He has called but that is all I can say for now. I am not in a position to divulge any more information, and I also don’t know when he is going to give himself up.” Nineteen-year-old Cox of Cocorite Terrace was shot in the head early Monday morning after leaving a christening in the area.
His close friend, who had also attended the same function, according to relatives who had witnessed the shooting, is Cox’s alleged killer. Cox’s relatives said the dead man’s friend called them after learning of the teenager’s death, and confessed. They said he also apologised for shooting his friend. He said he had drunk too much at the christening, and was not aware of what he had done. St James Police are continuing investigations.
