Man charged with burning own house

A 37-year-old man was placed on $50,000 bail after appearing before a Couva magistrate on Thursday charged with burning down his own house. Rishi Caesar, father of one, was not called upon to plead when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar, hours after he was arrested on Thursday.

It is alleged the accused set his home on fire following a heated argument with his common-law-wife, two Wednesdays ago. He was charged by Sgt Lumy of Couva CID. Caesar will reappear in court on May 5.
