Doctors say Lochan not contagious
NOEL LOCHAN’S skin ailment, in which patches of egg-sized boils have scarred his body, is not contagious. This is as much as doctors have discovered about his illness so far, in their quest to diagnose the cause of Lochan’s massive skin disruption. Yesterday, South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) chairman Imtiaz Ahmad told Newsday even though tests conducted thus far had not turned up a conclusive result, there are no plans to have Lochan sent abroad for treatment.
“There are no plans to send him abroad, at least not at this stage. I do know that doctors are working feverishly to prevent the illness from getting out of hand. Though there has been no short or long-term course of treatment, I know for a fact that doctors have eliminated certain things. They have concluded the illness is not contagious,” Ahmad said. Although Lochan remains screened off from other patients and members of the public visiting the San Fernando General Hospital ward, Ahmad said they were not at risk of contracting his skin illness.
