Mentoring project for secondary schools
A mentoring programme which was launched by students of the Youth Training Centre (YTC) earlier this year is being extended to secondary schools throughout the nation, the Ministry of Education announced yesterday. The programme, themed “Towards A Better Citizen,” is designed to maximise the potential of secondary school students, and to help guide them along the path of success, while helping to eradicate pointless altercations and lawlessness.
In a release, the Ministry said the YTC students engaged both students and staff members in discussions on safety and security, while encouraging positive effort, testimonies and role playing on issues of learning, peace and harmony in the school, during the sessions. The mentoring team includes the two finalists from the RBTT Young Leaders debate, in addition to four members of the Prison Service. Presentations will continue today at the Cedros Composite School, and on Thursday at the Pleasantville Senior Comprehensive School from 10 am.
