Chaguanas robbery suspects held in PoS
A QUICK response from two Highway Patrol officers resulted in the arrest of two men and the recovery of a quantity of stolen items. At around 7 am yesterday, two men broke into the offices of Trinidad Recycling in Chaguanas, and stole a quantity of car radiators, a tent and other parts. They escaped in a car. A security guard who witnessed the incident contacted the police, and an all points bulletin was sent out to all police divisions to be on the lookout for the vehicle with the two occupants.
PCs Greaves and Dookie of the Highway Patrol, who were on mobile patrol, saw the vehicle in the vicinity of Bhagwansingh’s Hardware in Sea Lots and challenged its occupants, two men ages 50 and 38, of Chaguanas. They were promptly arrested and the stolen items recovered. At around 11 pm on Saturday, Michael Maraj, 33, of Felicity, was at Beharry’s Bar on the Caroni Savannah Road, when three men entered the bar and demanded the keys for his Honda Civic. He refused and one of the men pulled out a gun and fired several shots at Maraj, who was shot in both legs. An eyewitness took Maraj to the Chaguanas Health Centre where he was treated and transferred to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital in stable condition.
At around 4.40 am, Antonio Felix, of Mon Plasir Road, Cunupia, was driving along Munroe Road, Cunupia, in the vicinity of a Hindu temple when he saw a man lying on the roadway. Felix stopped his vehicle, and a man robbed him of $100 and other valuables. The man who was lying on the roadway attempted to rob him of his car. Felix took a screwdriver and stabbed the man in the chest. A report was made to the Cunupia Police and Cpl Sealey is investigating.
