Curepe father of two dies after car crashes into ditch
A 32-year-old father of two became the country’s 73rd road fatality for the year when he lost control of his station wagon at Pastora Road in Santa Cruz early yesterday. Reports revealed that around 2.30 am, Terry Garib of Stella Street, Curepe, was driving his car along Pastora Road, when he ran off the road and ended up in a ditch. He was killed instantly.
Officers led by Cpl Phillip of the Santa Cruz Police Station went to the scene and the body was removed from the ditch by undertakers and taken to the Port-of-Spain Mortuary. Yesterday, Rohani Garib, wife of the dead man, told Newsday she last saw her husband on Sunday when he left home to visit a friend at Santa Cruz.
Before leaving to visit his friend, she said her husband spent most of the day repairing the house. Garib was described as a a very helpful person who was loved by those who knew him. He also repaired speakers and did some wood work. His two children are ages ten and 11. Garib is expected to be buried today at the St Joseph Cemetery after a church service in Curepe.
