Dhanraj sues for prison files
Former Government Minister Dhanraj Singh was granted leave yesterday for judicial review against the procrastination of the Commissioner of Prisons to allow him access to his prison files. The application was filed by attorney Kulraj Kamta in the Registry of the Port-of-Spain High Court, and head by Justice Maureen Rajnauth-Lee. Kamta had named the Commissioner of Prisons and the Minister of National Security as defendants. Kamta argued that since December 30, 2003, Singh had asked the Commissioner for access to his prison files which he is permitted to do under the Freedom of Information Act.
