Daniel replaces Ramsammy at bpTT
Robert Riley, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, bp Trinidad and Tobago has announced the appointment of Sheldon Daniel to the position of Vice President, External Affairs (formerly Government and Public Affairs) effective July 5, 2004. Mr Daniel who has been on assignment as a Commercial Analyst at BP’s offices in Aberdeen, Scotland for the past year is returning to fill the vacancy created recently with the appointment of Donna Ramsammy as Head — Internal Communications, BP Exploration and Production in London. Ramsammy held the position of Vice President, Government and Public Affairs since 1999.
Daniel, who joined BP in September 1998, has had diverse work experience within BP. Prior to his Aberdeen assignment, Mr Daniel served as executive assistant to Mr Riley. During this tenure as a support member for the executive team, he gained tremendous insights into the group’s decision-making and leadership process. From 2001-2002 Mr Daniel was Senior Advisor and Research Analyst to the GPA team and had primary responsibility for coordinating and supporting country-risk analysis for the BP Group.
At that time he also provided input into the deployment of the bpTT’s social responsibility plans, thereby making the company’s brand and commercial offer more aligned with the country’s developmental needs. Daniel is the holder of a BSc in Government from the University of the West Indies, St Augustine; and M Phil from the University of Cambridge in Sociology and Politics of Development and an MSc in Development Studies from UWI, Mona; and has an MBA from the IOB, UWI. In his new position Daniel would report directly to Mr Riley and would be a member of the bpTT leadership team. His portfolio will include the management of bpTT’s Reputation, Communications, Social Investment and Measurement.
