The first six months of the year eneded with a remarkable rise by 29.7 percent of BMW Group car sales in the Caribbean and African regions. A total of 2034 cars sold during this period, representing an increase of 466 units, compared to the same period of the previous year. According to Helmut Broker, General Manager of the Region Caribbean/Africa, “The first six months were excellent for us. Our sales are not only in progression in relation to last year, but are also above the objectives that we had set.” These results have been achieved thanks to many new model introductions in particular thanks to the new BMW 5 Series, which was introduced last year and immediately achieved 493 units, a record for this region. On a worldwide basis, the BMW Group has delivered 8.5 percent more vehicles to customers than in the same period last year.
The sales of BMW automobiles in the importer markets in Africa also showed progress, with some 1,365 sold cars over the first six months of the year. One of the best results has been achieved in Egypt, with an increase of 204.6 percent (265 in sales). Most of the vehicles that have been sold in Egypt have been assembled locally. In the Caribbean, BMW Group car sales increased by 17.3 percent (535 sales). For the three French Overseas Departments, French Guyana, Martinique and Guadeloupe, the sales volume remains at the level of the previous year. One of the best progressions is achieved by Trinidad with 67 percent (57 units). The achieved results during the first six months confirm once again the positive trend of the last year in the Region Caribbean/Africa. “For the second half of the year we also intend to achieve an increase in our sales volumes. We will further develop our network and will introduce new models to maintain our position in the markets,” adds Broker.
