Suspects held in teen’s killing released

The three persons who were detained in connection with the murder of teenager Gery Rooplal were released yesterday. According to police sources, the trio, ages 17, 19 and 22, all of King Street in Princes Town, were released yesterday around 2 pm from police custody after being detained on Wednesday evening for questioning. Rooplal was found in a pool of blood under a house at the back of his King Street home. He had chop wounds on his head and back. Police believe the teenager fought for his life, since his left thumb was severed. Bloody fingerprints were also found on a galvanized water tank near the murder scene. Sgt Errol Ramdath is heading the investigation.
