Ex-con gets 3 years for break-in
A 35-YEAR-OLD La Romaine man, with a criminal record, including a 13-month prison term for possession of a firearm, was yesterday jailed for three years with hard labour when he pleaded guilty before a San Fernando magistrate to break-in and larceny. Clint Cunningham was sentenced by Magistrate Rajendra Rambachan, who presided over the Fourth Court. Cunningham, of Papourie Road La Romaine, was held after businessman Indarjit Rambaransingh made a report to police that his establishment had been burglarised.
According to the charges, Rambaransingh secured his businessplace — Tamesh Enterprise — located in Duncan Village, La Romaine, around 10 am on September 5. He returned at 5 pm on the following day and found the place broken into and items valued $1,500 missing, including a shower set, plumbing sets, tools and a door handle. PC Rishi Ramdass investigated the break-in and arrested the defendant.
