Student charged with robbing student

Quick response from officers of the Chaguanas CID yesterday led to the arrest of a 16-year-old Carapichaima Junior Secondary School student and the recovery of a stolen gold chain and pendant. Reports revealed that Adrian Balkaran, 17, a YTEPP student, was walking along Petersfield in Felicity around 3 pm, when he was confronted by a student in school uniform. Balkaran was ordered to hand over his gold chain and pendant.

A frightened Balkaran gave the items to his attacker, who then fled the scene. A report was made to the Chaguanas CID and a party of officers led by acting Sgt Ajith Persad, including detectives Toolaram and Olliviere, went to Woodford Lodge in Chaguanas, where they arrested a 16-year-old schoolboy. The stolen items were recovered. The schoolboy was charged with robbery late yesterday, and will appear before a Chaguanas magistrate today.
