Teen allegedly held with gun between her legs
A BEETHAM Gardens teenager Friday appeared before a Port-of-Spain magistrate charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition. The gun and ammunition were allegedly found hidden between her legs, inside her panties. According to reports, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force, led by acting Insp Sahadeo Singh and coordinated by Supt Martin Murrain, were conducting a road-block exercise between 8.30 pm and 11.30 pm Thursday on Eastern Main Road in Laventille, near the Citrus Growers Association (CGA), when they had cause to stop a vehicle with four occupants. Three men, who were well known to police, and one female were searched.
A quantity of marijuana was found with the gun and ammunition. Sally Joseph, 18, of 19th Street, Beetham Gardens, later appeared before Port-of-Spain Magistrate Lianne Leekim charged with the offence. She pleaded not guilty and was placed on $60,000 bail. Twenty-five persons were also issued tickets for various traffic offences, while eight others, including four murder suspects, were arrested for firearm and drug possession.
