Carenage teen shooting witness running scared
KURT Holder, the lone witness in the shooting of Carenage teenager Sherman Monsegue, is now running scared for his life and has taken to hiding in fear of being killed because of what he knows. When Newsday caught up with him yesterday at the funeral of his friend, a nervous-looking Holder, with a cap covering his face to hide his identity, explained that since the shooting and release, he has been living a life of fear.
According to Holder, he and Monsegue were walking into the bushes to get their surfboards for a swim, when a group of police ran towards them demanding to know “where the drugs and guns were.” Holder claimed when he told the officers they knew nothing about guns and drugs, the police beat him with a gun butt, threw him into a jeep and took him to the Carenage Police Station, where he was interrogated and later released. “It was only when I returned home I knew Sherman was dead.”
However, the frightened man insisted they did not have a gun or drugs. “Right now I am afraid the police will kill me, just like how they kill Sherman, for what I know.” Police claimed the men fired at them, and a boat, which is believed to have been used to transport drugs, was seen leaving the scene shortly after the shooting started.
