AG: Decision soon on Inquiry
ATTORNEY-GENERAL John Jeremie yesterday said a final decision will soon be taken to formalise the appointment of a Commission of Inquiry to investigate contracts awarded to NH International and Warner Construction since the PNM returned to office in 2001. Prime Minister Patrick Manning announced the establishment of the commission of inquiry at a post-Cabinet news conference last week.
Jeremie told Newsday he had met with the Prime Minister and “our discussions are ongoing and I am close to being in a position to give final advice to him.” Before an overseas engagement in London last week, Jeremie met separately with Manning and Housing Minister Dr Keith Rowley on matters concerning the Landate affair. Rowley said he was innocent of all charges against him regarding Landate and welcomed an investigation into the matter. NH International and Warner Construction have also welcomed the inquiry proposed by Manning.
