University launch Monday at Hilton

The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) will be officially launched at the Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre’s Ballroom on Monday at 7 pm. Delivering the feature address at the inauguration will be acting Prime Minister, Joan Yuille Williams. Addresses will also be delivered by Minister of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education Colm Imbert and chairman of the Board of Governors and interim president of the UTT, Prof Kenneth Julien.


According to a release, the UTT, the country’s first “indigenous” university, is being funded and managed by the TT government in partnership with industry and civil society. “The university is designed to be an entrepreneurial institution for the promotion of an innovation system for economic and social development, in conjunction with the Wallerfield Industrial and Technology Park,” the release added. During the ceremony, winners of the Coat of Arms design competition will be announced.
