Bandits make off with Albrosco payroll
SHORTLY before 4 pm yesterday two men walked into the payroll department of Albrosco Ltd on Belmont Circular Road, Belmont, and relieved the manager of the company’s payroll, just as he was about to pay workers. According to a report, manager Hen Sue Lee was adjusting his desk to pay workers, including security staff, who were queuing up, when the men walked in and, at gunpoint, ordered him to hand over the cash. Hen Sue Lee refused and a struggle ensued. He received several gun butts to his head and the firearm went off, causing everyone to scamper. The men grabbed the bag of cash and ran into nearby Reid Lane and then Farrell Lane and disappeared.
Police responded immediately but were unable to catch anyone. When Newsday visited the factory, officials refused to speak but workers and police confirmed they believe it was an “inside job.” “The men knew where they were going, who they were going to and exactly what time the cash arrived. You can only have that information if someone inside tells you.” Hen Sue Lee was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he was treated and discharged after receiving several stitches to his head. Belmont Police are investigating.
