‘Copycat’ brother commits suicide
A MAN from Enterprise Village, Chaguanas employed the same method used by his brother two years ago to commit suicide. According to reports, around 12.35 am yesterday Dhanraj Joseph, 35, a coconut vendor of Bynoe Trace, was seen walking into a room, cursing no one in particular as he normally did after a bout of drinking. About four hours later when he did not come out to collect his coconuts, a check was made and Joseph, who had been depressed since his brother committed suicide, was found hanging from a piece of cloth tied to a rafter in similar fashion, as his brother, in the same room two years ago.
Sources confirmed he had sunk into deep depression following the death of his brother, who was his “drinking partner” and had often threatened to kill himself the same way, but no one believed him. Visiting the scene were Snr Supt Mayers, Supt Rampersad, Insp Kirk and Cpls Aguilera and Langley. In an unrelated matter 25 persons arrested during a police exercise in Chaguanas yesterday, will appear before a Chaguanas magistrate tomorrow. The men raging in ages from 19 to 32, were arrested between the hours of 4 am and 12 noon. Several homes were searched in the exercise coordinated by Snr Supt Mayers and headed by Insp Kirk.
