BWIA flight delayed

BWIA flight BW 484 to Miami was delayed from 9 am yesterday from Piarco Airport until a new scheduled departure time of about 8.30 pm yesterday. Reports are that passengers, who included young children and disabled persons, were upset at the long delay and at BWIA’s alleged failure to keep them updated.

Yesterday, BWIA’s corporate communications manager, Dionne Ligore, said the delay had been caused by a mechanical problem that needed to be properly checked. “What I want to bring to the fore is that BWIA has an impeccable safety record. Our first priority is customer safety.” She explained how the delay had arisen: “The passengers had been boarded, when we saw  that something needed to be checked and had to be replaced,” she added.
