Lawyers raise $100,000 for Cotton Tree

DIRECTOR of the Cotton Tree Foundation (CTF), Justice Ulric Cross was happy as punch when he received news that the Second Annual “Lawyers Can Cook” fund raiser bubbled $100,000. The announcement was made at a CTF get-together held recently at Cross’ home in Port-of-Spain. When Chairman of the fund-raiser, Patt Christopher presented the symbolic cheque, Cross was all smiles.

And it was at this juncture that CTF Chairman Desmond Allum SC called on his legal colleagues to join CTF, adding that their heart-felt participation was the reason why the event held on October 9 at the Trinidad Country Club  was a resounding sold-out success. The Sarah Beckett painting which was up for grabs at the fun evening was also drawn by the artist herself at the get-together.  Winner Susan Granger-Tyler must contact the CTF (Alicia or Petula at 623-5120) to make arrangements for collection. By the end of the get-together, plans were already brewing for the third “Lawyers Can Cook” function.
