$80,000 bail for woman on cocaine charge

A PRINCES Town woman, who appeared yesterday before  a San Fernando Magistrate,  charged with trafficking cocaine, was granted $80,000 bail. The accused, who limped into the second court before Magistrate Sonia Aleong was charged for the offence by WPC Lydia Persad. The 24-year-old accused was not called upon to enter a plea since the charge was laid indictably. According to the charge, around 12.30 pm, WPC Lydia Persad stopped a maxi-taxi in which the accused was a passenger. During a search, WPC Persad allegedly found 12 grammes of cocaine hidden in the accused woman’s right socks. She was taken to St Margaret’s Police Station and formally charged. The woman was advised by Aleong to find someone to stand her (the accused) bail. The matter was adjourned to November 24.
