Finance Minister gives men a lecture

Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Conrad Enill, instead of speaking of finances and the economic status of the country, chose to send out a call to the men of society to re-commit themselves and do what they must, to ensure the development of a better society of Trinidad and Tobago. He was delivering a short address to formally open the San Fernando East Constituency’s 38th Annual Conference of Delegates on Friday night at the San Fernando East Constituency Office, Coffee Street, San Fernando. Enill stated that men must understand their role. “You may think that your role is to be a good husband or husband in waiting, and a good father or father in waiting, but your role is to ensure that you take full responsibility for the spiritual health of your family — that is your job,” Enill said.

He added, that there are many individuals who are kind enough to see in them a quality that allows them to believe that they would represent their interest, and stated that “because, people have a lot of faith and confidence in you, men, you ought to represent them, and if, people have faith in you, you must make sure that you do not let them down, you have a responsibility to let them be proud of you.” Enill, even went further to state that the People’s National Movement (PNM) party operates in a system and it has some very core values, one of which is the family.

He added that the 38th Annual Conference of Delegates sets direction, provides motivation and is used as an opportunity to do what must be done on a daily basis. “The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has embarked on an objective to ensure that in the shortest possible time, that society can be compared with the best in the world,” Enill said. He concluded by saying that standards of excellence must be set and one must be very uncompromising about the standards set and finally, he urged that one must not lose sight of one’s objective.
