Prison Commissioner’s gun stolen
WESTERN Division Police are investigating the house breaking and larceny of a 9mm Smith and Wesson semi-automatic pistol, 10 rounds of ammunition, a camcorder and two Rolex watches yesterday from the home of Commissioner of Prisons Carlo Mahoney. According to reports, around 2.30 am Mahoney retired to bed at his 69 Opal Gardens, Diamond Vale, Diego Martin home and awoke at 6.45am to find his home ransacked and the items missing. The firearm and ammunition are Ministry of National Security issued items. Entry was gained through a wooden door on the northern side of the house. Efforts to contact Mahoney, who less than 12 hours before was socialising at the senior officers’ mess, Tetron Barracks, following the passing out parade for 173 new soldiers, was futile. A report was made to the West End Police Station. Ag Cpl Watson is investigating.
