Police to investigate

Senior officers of the Port-of-Spain Division are investigating a report of assault by beating lodged by a female officer against another female officer. According to reports, around 2.30 pm last Friday, a female police officer attached to the Belmont Police Station had been carrying out guard duties at ward 23 of the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, and had been awaiting the arrival of another female officer to relieve her. A female corporal attached to the Central Police Station reportedly arrived late for the relief and an argument ensued. The scuffle was carried out in full view of nurses and pateints at ward 23.

The officer from the Belmont Police Station returned to the station and lodged a report of assault by beating against her colleague. The matter was referred to Snr Supt Errol Denoon, the Head of the Port-of-Spain Division and Inspector Peter Grant. Newsday learned that Cpl Chadband was assigned to investigate the matter and a report is expected to be sent to Snr Supt Denoon later this week. The officer from the Central Police Station has another matter under investigation for allegedly assaulting another female officer. Senior officers confirmed that the matter is receiving urgent attention.
