Who’s running the station?

ANGRY officers attached to the San Raphael police station are annoyed with the administrators of the Northern Division concerning who gave orders for them to work without compensation at an event to be held at the San Raphael Parish Catholic Church in contravention of the Police Act. “We want to know who is running the station; is it the church or the police department?”. Explaining the situation one angry officer said, “Sometime recently we received a request from an official of the church for police security for a fete to be held in the church hall on Friday.” Investigations were made and the official was told of the strength and cost recommended.

To the shock of everyone this official said he wanted the officers to work without compensation and would quicker have the whole station transferred instead of paying a cent. The investigator informed the official that according to the laws governing the Police Act and information coming out of the office of the Commissioner of Police he will have to pay. The official again objected. “But lo and behold yesterday morning we received notices with the signature of the senior superintendent in charge of the division Farouk Ghany  that we have to work extra-duty at a fete to be held on Friday 6 pm to 1am at the church hall. Efforts to contact Father Moses at the San Raphael Parish church or Snr Supt Ghany were futile.
