RBTT joins UNDP TT for tsunami relief fund

In an effort to bring some financial assistance to Asia, RBTT has joined UNDP TT for a tsunami relief fund. “What has happened in Asia is a catastrophe that is almost incomprehensible for those of us who have not lived through it. But it has touched a global heartstring, stirring those of us fortunate enough not to have experienced this epic disaster firsthand to reach out to the millions left fighting for survival,” said James Smith, RBTT Director – Group Marketing and Communications. His comments came as he  announced RBTT plans to join with UNDP’s Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and sub-regional offices launching regional support for tsunami-ravaged countries. The United Nations is coordinating the worldwide relief effort.

RBTT banks throughout the region will establish emergency relief bank accounts to accept financial contributions from private-sector businesses, non-governmental organisations and individuals for the Tsunami Relief Fund. RBTT has initiated the first contribution to the Fund, which will facilitate donations until March 31, 2005. Contributions can be made at any RBTT Branch to Account No 911-102-314-0.
