Palmiste park in danger

THE EDITOR: Forestry workers have cut away all grass and topsoil from the roots of trees at the Palmiste Park. Additionally the constant chopping at the roots of trees has exposed the latter to the elements, such as insects, fungus and rain. As a consequence, many of the 100-year-old Samaan trees whose roots are exposed are leaning and in danger of falling.

Our national heritage at the Palmiste Park is at risk of being destroyed. Forestry heads and workers therefore ought to be properly trained in soil and forestry conservation before being put to work at the Palmiste Park. Over to you, Ms Pennelope Beckles, the Honourable Minister for the Environment.
