Miracle High reopens after Principal row
PASTOR Winston Cuffie yesterday addressed students of the Miracle Ministries High School in Freeport following resumption of classes yesterday. Students and teachers came out in full force after last week’s threat of closure over a row with then school Principal Omar Ali, regarding his transfer. The school reopened yesterday without Ali, who has been transferred. In his place, acting school Principal Shirlyn Henry took over. She also addressed the students yesterday, exhorting them to use their time wisely and to focus on their studies.
The Miracle Ministries School board threatened last week not to reopen the school after the Carnival week-long holiday, if Ali was not removed as principal. Newsday learnt that education ministry officials met with board members on Friday. Chairman of the board, Pastor Cuffie, told Newsday yesterday, “The education ministry has sorted out the matter. In so doing, it was in the best interest for classes to resume today in a cool, calm and focused manner.” Cuffie added that Ali had sought a transfer and was no longer the principal of Miracle Ministries High School. In speaking to the 300 plus students, acting Principal Henry told them to become committed to their studies to ensure that they passed their CXC and GCE exams.
